Human Body Explorer

See how the organs of the human body work. Pick a system and watch it run, step by step. Click any part to learn what it does, then use Test yourself to check what you remember.

Pick a system

Heart, lungs, digestion, kidney, eye or reflex action. The animation starts by itself and walks through each step. Use Pause, Back and Next to go at your own speed.

Click the parts

Tap or click any organ or vessel to read what it does. Switch Labels off to see the diagram the way an exam shows it.

Test yourself

With the labels hidden, the explorer names a part and you click it. You get a score, and the right answer is shown if you miss.

What you can explore

  • Heart and circulation: the four chambers, the valves, and the path of blood around the lungs and the body (double circulation).
  • Lungs and breathing: how the diaphragm and ribs change the pressure in the chest, and how oxygen and carbon dioxide diffuse across an alveolus.
  • Digestion: where each food group is digested, which enzymes are used, and how digested food is absorbed.
  • Kidney: how the nephron filters the blood, reabsorbs what the body needs and makes urine.
  • Eye: how light is focused on the retina, how the pupil and lens adjust, and how short and long sight are corrected.
  • Reflex action: the path of a nerve impulse from receptor to effector, and why a reflex is so fast.

These are simplified, labelled diagrams for learning, not medical illustrations. Sizes and positions are not to scale.
