Mathematics Graph Plotter

Type an equation and see its graph at once. Drag a slider to change a coefficient and watch the curve move, find intercepts, turning points and where two graphs meet, and explore coordinate geometry.

Type or pick an example

Choose Start from an example or type your own, such as y = 2x + 1, y = x^2 - 4 or x^2 + y^2 = 25. Use Add equation to compare several graphs.

Use letters as sliders

Any letter other than x and y becomes a slider. In y = a x^2 + b x + c you get sliders for a, b and c. Press the play button to animate one.

Explore the graph

Drag to move, scroll or pinch to zoom, hover to read values. Coloured rings mark intercepts, turning points and intersections; see them listed under Key points.

How to type equations

To getTypeExample
Multiply* or just write them together2x, 3(x+1), (x+1)(x-1)
Powers^x^2, 2^x, x^(1/3)
Division/1/x, (x+1)/(x-1)
Square root, absolute valuesqrt( ), abs( ) or |x|sqrt(x), |x - 2|
Trigonometrysin cos tan (radians, or degrees in Settings)sin(x), 2 sin(3x), sin^2(x)
Logarithms, exponentialsln( ), log( ), e^xln(x), e^(-x)
The number πpisin(pi x)
A vertical linex = numberx = 3
Circles and other curvesany equation with x and y(x-1)^2 + (y+2)^2 = 9
A point(x, y)(2, 3)

If an equation is not understood, a short message appears under it saying what to fix. The plotter never runs your text as program code; it only reads it as mathematics.

What you can learn with it

  • Straight lines: how the gradient m and intercept c in y = mx + c change the line, and where two lines meet (simultaneous equations).
  • Quadratics: roots, the vertex at x = −b/2a and how a opens or flips the parabola.
  • Coordinate geometry: the Two points tab gives the distance, midpoint, gradient and equation of the line through two points, and can draw them.
  • Circles and conics: centre and radius from (x − h)² + (y − k)² = r², ellipses and hyperbolas.
  • Trigonometry and exponentials: amplitude, period and phase of a sine wave, and growth and decay.

Works offline: after your first visit the plotter is saved in your browser, so you can use it without an internet connection. Your last graph is remembered on this device, and the button copies a link that opens exactly the same graph.
